Pre-Hair Transplant Care Guidelines
- Avoid fermented foods and alcoholic beverages for one week before the hair transplant.
- Stop taking medications, vitamins, or supplements that may affect blood clotting for 2 weeks to 1 month before the procedure.
- Avoid perming, dyeing, or coloring your hair for 1 month before the transplant.
- Stop smoking or reduce smoking as much as possible for at least 2 weeks before the procedure, as nicotine constricts blood vessels and may reduce blood flow to the transplanted grafts.
- Get enough rest before the procedure, as the transplant process is lengthy and may cause fatigue. Additionally, sleeping with an elevated pillow on the first night after the transplant may feel uncomfortable and cause difficulty sleeping.
- Drink plenty of water before the procedure, but avoid tea, coffee, and carbonated drinks.
- Wear a front-button shirt instead of clothing that needs to be pulled over the head to prevent disturbing the transplanted grafts.
- Inform your doctor about any regular medications or allergies you may have before the procedure.
Post-Hair Transplant Care Guidelines
- Avoid rubbing, scratching, or picking at the transplanted area for 2 weeks after the procedure.
- Do not bend your head below waist level for 1 week to prevent bleeding, swelling, or dislodging of transplanted grafts.
- Avoid alcohol consumption and smoking for at least 1 week post-procedure.
- Wear a headband for at least four days after the transplant to prevent facial swelling. You may remove it while washing your hair, but not for more than 20-30 minutes. The headband should be worn throughout the night.
- Sleep on your back with your head elevated using a high pillow or a neck-supporting travel pillow to avoid pressure on the transplanted area. Do not sleep on your side
- Refrain from exercise, swimming, or strenuous activities that cause sweating for one month. However, light activities like walking or arm swinging are allowed if they don’t induce sweating.
- Avoid haircuts and hair dyeing for at least one month after the procedure.
- Eat a well-balanced diet rich in protein and avoid weight loss diets for the first six months, as they may negatively affect the transplanted hair.
- Take prescribed medications as directed by your doctor.
- Avoid swimming (pools, seawater) and saunas for at least one month post-procedure.
- Rest adequately and avoid hot environments to prevent excessive sweating and moisture buildup in the transplanted area.
- Refrain from sexual activity for at least one week.
- Avoid direct sunlight exposure for at least two weeks to prevent excessive dryness of the newly transplanted hair. A loose-fitting hat provided by the clinic can be worn when necessary.
- Avoid wearing helmets or tight-fitting hats for at least two weeks after the procedure.
